Mission: The mission of the Everett L. Cattell Library is to support the mission of Malone College by providing for the curricular and research information needs of its students, faculty, administrators, staff and community patrons.

The Everett L. Cattell Library was built in 1972 and has seating for 286 students. It is named in honor of Dr. Everett L. Cattell, a former Malone College President who also spent many years in India as a missionary. The library has over 173,000 book and periodical volumes, 1,025 current periodical subscriptions, 684,500 microfiche (including complete ERIC documents microfiche from 1989 to date), over 3,000 music CD's and various multimedia materials. Special features include historical materials from the college's beginnings as the Cleveland Bible College, an extensive collection of religion materials, and the Friends Library, which houses historical and current books and documents related to the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers).

The library is automated through the Innovative Interfaces Innopac (III) library automation system. The library is also a member of the Ohio Private Academic Libraries (OPAL) consortium, which consists of libraries from twenty-four colleges and universities. Through the OPAL Malone Catalog (available via internet under the library section of the college's web site), the library provides access to the 3,000,000 volumes held by the OPAL consortium - noted as one of the best undergraduate collections in Ohio. Books can be requested by students from the campus, their homes, or their offices for delivery to the Malone library in about four days via statewide courier delivery. Through the online catalog, students can also discover what materials have been placed on library reserve by their instructors.

Through its membership in OPAL, Malone is a member of OhioLINK, a statewide central catalog and resource-sharing consortium for most of Ohio's universities and colleges. Malone students may order materials in OhioLINK's 35,000,000 item catalog for delivery. Malone students may also go to any OPAL or OhioLINK library and borrow items directly. Student requests for periodical articles which can be supplied by OhioLINK libraries will also be supplied at no charge. The library is also a partial depository for United States Government documents, and government documents can be obtained by interlibrary loan from other depositories in the region. The library is also a member of OCLC, which provides access to over 81,000,000 titles in over 29,000 libraries throughout the world. Through OCLC, the library can obtain virtually any book or periodical article through interlibrary loan.

Students can conduct their own database searches in over one-hundred computer-based periodical indexes and reference databases. Some of the databases that are accessed through OhioLINK provide the full text of journal articles. Membership in OhioLINK also provides access to the Electronic Journal Center for online journals and NetLibrary for eBooks. Individual instruction on searching and using these resources is available on request.

The library also provides microfiche/film reader printers, photocopy machines and computers for a wide variety of applications. Fax services are available for students and faculty.
