MCMP Graduation Planning

MCMP Student Graduation Requirements Checklist
Please check-off the completed items and complete the remaining items prior to graduation.
  1. Application for degree.  The form, Undergraduate Application for Degree, has been completed and returned to the Office of the Registrar according to the dates in the summary sections below.
  2. All college courses taken at another institution are completed prior to your scheduled graduation and a final transcript must be sent directly to the Office of the Registrar at Malone College.  This transcript can only be requested by the student and should be in the office one month prior to graduation.
  3. “I” or “L” grades must be completed.  All courses, including electives, must be completed and graded prior to your graduation date.
  4. A minimum of 124 semester hours has been completed.
  5. Check on eligibility for Graduation Honors.  To establish eligibility, each student must have a minimum of 60 semester hours of graded work at Malone with a minimum grade point average of 3.5.  Graded hours are all hours graded here at Malone with the Letter Grades A-F.   Courses issued CR/NC, CLEP, Credit for Prior Learning, Credit by Examination, and Experiential Learning are not considered graded hours.  Once eligibility has been established, Academic Honors are computed based on all postsecondary work attempted.  For transfer students, this means your honor calculation will include all courses taken including your transfer work whether or not it was applied to your program here at the college.  Since honors for all Malone students represents 4 or more years of college coursework, this criteria is used in reaffirming this requirement for the transfer student.
  6. All financial accounts have been cleared through the Business Office.
  7. Information has been reviewed regarding participation in Baccalaureate and Commencement for the May or August ceremony based on your anticipated graduation.  Notice has been given to the Office of the Provost should you be unable to participate in your scheduled ceremony for the college’s planning purposes.
  8. Summary information printed below has been reviewed as part of your graduation planning process.
Summary Information for Assistance in Graduation Planning
  • You must file an Application for Degree with the Office of the Registrar.  This application must be filed three months prior to your anticipated graduation date.
  • Students are commenced, “graduated”, three times each year; May, August and December.  All requirements must be completed prior to each of these dates.  If a course(s) is graded “I” incomplete or “L” long-term, or an additional course(s) must be taken or completed after the anticipated graduation date, then the student will be moved to the NEXT date on which students are commenced.  For example:  A student completes his/her final course on June 14th. This student would not be commenced until the August graduation date and would be considered an August graduate.
  • You should be aware of each graduation requirement as listed in the current college catalog.  Each student must complete a minimum of 124 semester hours.  This does not mean you will graduate when you reach 124 hours.  You must also meet all requirements for your specific program.
  • Graduation Honors:   To establish eligibility, each student must have a minimum of 60 semester hours of graded work at Malone with a minimum grade point average of 3.5.
  • All test outs, CLEP tests etc., should be completed well in advance of your anticipated graduation date.  Failure to do so could delay or change your graduation.
  • DECEMBER GRADUATES:  Your diploma will be mailed to you in January after the college re-opens from Christmas break.  You will have the option of participating in either the August ceremony preceding your December graduation or in the May ceremony after the December graduation.  If you fill out your Application for Degree for the August graduation and then end up not attending the ceremony, you will not be given the opportunity to participate in the May ceremony.  You need to plan carefully when making your decision as to your participation in the appropriate graduation ceremony.
  • MAY GRADUATES:  If you complete all of your requirements prior to the May graduation, you will participate in the May ceremony and receive your diploma at that time.  Receipt of the diploma is contingent upon the full completion of the Graduation Checklist Requirements by the published dates in order to facilitate the ordering of the diploma and academic attire.
  • AUGUST GRADUATES:  If you complete your requirements at any point during the summer, you will be considered an August graduate and participate in the August ceremony and receive your diploma at that time.  Receipt of the diploma is contingent upon the full completion of the Graduation Checklist Requirements by the published dates in order to facilitate the ordering of the diploma and academic attire.
