Username, Email, and Password Formula
Example:
John Q. Public, Social Security # 111-22-1234
Students' accounts only work on the STUDENT domain—the third line on the login screen for domain should read “student.”
Their first successful login will prompt them to change their password. This is their login (network) password. This doesn’t change the student’s email password. To change the email password, they have to access their email through the Malone website (initially), click on General Information, and then click on Student Email, enter their username and password (initials and SS#), click on the Preference tab, scroll down and change their email password. Students' Personal Computers
First of all, it is not a requirement that students provide their own computers. We have many labs on campus where computers are available for their use. If a student is returning with their computer that was already configured for our network, they can just plug in and go. Computers connecting to our ResNet require a Network Card and Network (Cat 5) cable. Both can be purchased through the bookstore or a store of their choice if you do not already have them. A Residential Computing Connectivity Guide is available in each residence hall room for instruction on getting connected to the Malone network. Please see our "Computer Requirements" page for more information about what is required to connect to the ResNet.
Moving Files
There are many ways to move files from computer to computer. Student H: drives are personal network file stores that a student can access from anywhere on campus. H: drives are backed up to tape every night. We also recommend that students invest in a USB Flash Drive for moving files on and off campus. Always have a backup copy of your work!
Printing
Please review the "Printing Policy" page for information about printing in the labs and residence hall computer labs.
