Head Coach
Marquis Walker

Marquis Walker, a Malone graduate, enters his second season as the head coach of the men’s soccer team. Prior to being chosen as the head coach; Walker served as an assistant coach for the Pioneers for five seasons. Under the direction of first-year head coach Malone put together a solid 2006 campaign as the squad finished the year with a 7-8-2 overall record and 0-7-1 mark in the challenging AMC South Division. Although the Pioneers fell just one victory short to qualify for the NCCAA playoffs, the relatively young squad battled throughout the year, surpassing last season’s win total by three games and gaining valuable experience that will likely pay significant dividends in the near future.

  Walker played for the Pioneers for four seasons as a midfielder in the late 1990’s. While at Malone he was a four year starter and was twice named to the American Mideast Conference teams as well as the NCCAA East Region teams. His peers and coaches recognized him as the team’s Most Valuable Player and best defensive player twice. In his freshman campaign he netted nine goals and provided two assists as his team earned a spot in the NCCAA National Championships, where they eventually took third place. As a player, Marquis finished his career scoring 23 goals and providing 20 assists.

Walker has earned an Advanced National Diploma from the NSCAA, National Goalkeeping Diploma from the NSCAA and a USSF National “C” license. When not involved with the men’s soccer program at Malone, Marquis coaches a u-14 boy’s club team with Jackson Select.

Marquis is due to complete is Master’s Degree in Business Administration in the spring of 2008. He and his wife, Molly, also a Malone graduate, live in Canton with their two dogs, Onyx and Sammy.

 

 

Assistant Coach

Kevin Fischer, a Malone graduate, begins his first season an assistant coach for the men’s team. Kevin was a four-year letter winner for the Pioneers in the midfield. He earned American Mideast Conference selection as honorable mention and second team nominee. Kevin was also voted the teams Most Valuable Player and Best Offensive Player by the coaching staff and his peers. Kevin will be involved in a majority of the coaching duties for the team. He will primarily be involved in recruiting and team strength and speed training. Kevin currently resides with his wife Erika in Canton. They both work locally at Summit Academy as teachers’ aides.

 

Graduate Assistant

Anthony joins the Malone Coaching staff as a first year graduate assistant. He is working towards a Master’s Degree in School Counseling at Malone. Anthony enters his first season in a collegiate atmosphere; he has coached the previous four seasons at the high school level with Green High School Girls. Anthony will be involved in day-to-day operation of the team as well as over see the teams fundraising campaigns. Anthony currently resides in Canton and works as a Manager at Chick-Fila.
