Application for Pursuit of Licensure 

The Application for Pursuit of Licensure (available in the School of Education) must be completed and promptly returned to the School of Education. Preservice teachers are accepted into the pursuit of licensure by the Teacher Education Committee in October, January or April.  The committee screens applicants for pursuit of licensure and approves them on the basis of:
 
  • Cumulative G.P.A. of 2.75
  • Completion of 45 hours (including EDUC 112, 232 and SPED 243)
  • B- or better in COMM 110
  • Praxis I Reading, Writing and Mathematics score of 175+
  • MyPlan assessemment or CAI reflection paper
  • Evidence of good moral character (BCI/FBI)
  • Philosophy of Education paper
 
Application for Teacher Education

The Application for Teacher Education (available in the School of Education) must be completed and promptly returned to the School of Education.  Preservice teachers are accepted into teacher education by the Teacher Education Committee in October, January or April. The committee screens applicants for teacher education and approves them on the basis of:

  • acceptance to Pursuit of Licensure
  • Cumulative G.P.A. of 2.75
  • Completion of 60 hours
  • three positive references from selected faculty who know the preservice teacher (download the form: MS Word word icon or Adobe PDF pdf icon)
  • Admission to the major
  • Satisfactory scores on CAAP
