A major in Communication Arts permits a concentration in Communication Studies, Journalism, Media Communication, Public Relations, or Theatre. Required for each of these options are the following core and foundation courses totaling twenty-seven hours: COMM 230, 312, 320, 410 or 420, 460; JOUR 220; THEA 220; one from among COMM 220; SPCH 220, SPCH 340, 342; and 3 credits from among COMM 430; SPCH 340, 342 (if not taken above); BRCT 340; JOUR 340; THEA 240/340, or any upper level course in the department not taken as part of the core or concentration. Eighteen additional credit hours are necessary in at least one concentration as follows:
Students in the Communication Arts major are encouraged to participate in the co-curricular activities of one or more concentration areas. Enrolling in BRCT 340; JOUR 340; or THEA 240/340 would obtain credit for these activities. |
