Spanish Major: Bachelor of Arts Required Courses:
Students
are required to complete course work in four areas: writing and
language, culture and civilization, literature, and a field experience,
as shown in the list below.
Six
hours of total coursework must be completed in the field experience
requirement and may be met with 6 hours of SPAN 460 (Immersion) or a
total of 6 hours from combining 1-3 hours of SPAN 430 (Internship) with
3-5 hours of SPAN 460 (Immersion). The immersion requirement is
met by participating in a study-abroad experience. Students interested in this should contact the Spanish Program for additional information.

students must complete the SPAN 101, 102, 201, and 202 sequence, or
demonstrate equivelent proficiency. ***
Students desiring to obtain their degree in
spanish education must complete the same coursework as that required by
the Spanish major above, along with additional requirements in the
Education Department.
As
part of their education, Spanish Education teachers also have the
option of participating in the Guatemala Student-Teaching Semester
Abroad in the Spring of their senior year. Students can choose
other student-teaching sites, both in-country and out, for their senior
year.
