Psychology Practicum

PSYC 430

Psychology Practicum is a "practice-based" experience that is designed for upper-level students in the Psychology major. The word practicum comes from Latin and Greek root words that mean to do, practice, or perform. Practica are designed to put you in a place where you can see how what you have learned intellectually is applied in practice. The scope of activities for practicum students is limited to what students can legally and ethically do given their level of training. Practicum settings have included crisis centers, crisis hotlines, community mental health, forensic rehabilitation, and mental retardation services, among others. Practica must be approved in advance by Dr. Entwistle.
