Jane Hoyt-Oliver MSW, ACSW, LISW, Ph.D. has served as Social Work Department Chair since 1998. She has taught at Malone College since 1984. Jane earned her baccalaureate degree from Syracuse University in 1976 and her Masters of Social Work from the same school in 1977. She also attended The Divinity School at Duke University, and completed her doctoral studies at Case Western Reserve University, where she focused on the needs of homeless women in rural communities. She continues to have a research interest interaction between domestic violence and homelessness in rural communities. Currently, she is engaged in a qualitative study focusing on perceptions of cultural competence in transracially adopting parents. Jane’s practice experience is primarily in the area of medical social work, both in hospitals and in hospice care. Jane is an active member of NASW, having served in a number of positions in the professional organization. She serves on the boards of a number of statewide and community social service organizations. |
