![]() Associate Professor of Philosophy
Founders Hall 308 Shawn Floyd (Ph.D., Saint Louis University) is an Associate Professor of Philosophy, and has taught at Malone since 1999. He is a member of several professional philosophical organizations and is an area editor for the Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy. He has published articles in journals such as The Modern Schoolman, History of Philosophy Quarterly, Logos, Christian Scholars' Review, and The Heythrop Journal. His most recent article, "Can Humility Be a Deliberative Virtue?" appeared in The Schooled Heart: Moral Formation in American Higher Education, eds. Michael Beaty and Douglas Henry (Baylor University Press, 2007). Currently, he is working on several articles concerning virtue and pedagogy. Dr. Floyd's philosophical interests are Ethics, St. Thomas Aquinas, and Philosophy of Religion. He teaches courses in these same areas. He also drinks lots of coffee.
