Why I love working at Malone College:
Malone College in Canton, Ohio has been an extended family to me for nearly fifteen years.  I enjoy the Christian environment, and the encouragement of the people with whom I work.  When I first came to Malone, there was much I needed to learn about the College and the area.  My associations at work and in my community made me aware and comfortable in my new relationships and environments.  The mentoring I received in my teaching position and the practical advise from my college and community friends, such as classroom procedures, locations of doctors and dentists, made my transition less stressful and full of Christian fellowship.

At present I feel I have extended my relationships and grown closer to my colleagues and students.  The growth of the College both in student population and structural additions is a strong testimony to the Christian ideals and the academic commitment of the administration, faculty, and staff, especially since the student-faculty ratio is maintained at 14:1.  This facilitates my interest in working with students on a one-to-one basis.

I would be remiss if I did not look on the other side of the podium.  My students are probably not aware of how much they teach me.  Often, awareness of this exchange of knowledge is not known until years later- emails, letters, and visits inform me of their progress in Christian living and academic readiness.  Their preparation from me and their sharing with me have made the reciprocity a dual blessing.

What are the advantages of a Malone education:
As mentioned before, there is no substitute for personal attention received from a mid-sized school in a Christian atmosphere.  The growth, even among those who come to us from a Christian home setting, is visible and contagious.

The co-curricular activities invite social interaction among varied interests.  Even the faculty's social and activity life is encouraged and supported (Just ask me to play table tennis sometime!).  The cultural enhancement leads to aesthetical growth, which leads upward to the well-rounded person of high standards in living and learning.

Advice I would give prospective students:
Read carefully the testimonials of students and faculty, visit the school, speak anonymously with upper classmen, and bring your parents to campus to experience what you will be immersing yourself into.  Then compare and contrast.  If you want to have more individual help or attention from faculty and closeness with other students, and if you want to gain a well-rounded education and focus on growth professionally as well as personally, Malone is the school for you!
