Meet Brian Oglesbee

As a soon-to-retire elementary school principal, I originally decided to pursue the Master of Arts in Christian Ministries to explore a more advanced and deeper understanding of the Bible. Then God grabbed me and made it clear that I was to pursue this degree in preparation for a second career - in the ministry.
 
The classes at Malone are both stimulating and challenging. I am continually moved by the deep spiritual faith of each of the professors in the program. They model the best in spiritual commitment and academic rigor.
 
I plan to use my degree to help me to complete the ordination process to become a Deacon in the United Methodist Church. My next step will be attending Seminary.
Advice to Others Considering the Program: Be prepared to be challenged and gain new insight to your faith through every step of the way! The program allowed me to question, refine and define my personal faith in the most positive way.
 
Noteworthy Experiences: One of the most rewarding projects for me personally was the extensive Biblical interpretation paper I wrote of John 7:53-8:11. Through the scholarly writing process, the scriptures came alive and the complexity of Jesus' teachings were amazingly revealed.
