Flagler (FL) College 99-88 Malone loses to: Palm Beach Atlantic (FL) University 83-76 CURRENT RECORD: 2-3 (0-0 AMC South) Women's Basketball - Malone loses to: Cedarville University 93-72 CURRENT RECORD: 3-4 (0-1 AMC South) Men’s Basketball Posts 1-1 Mark At Palm Beach Atlantic Thanksgiving Classic The Malone College men’s basketball team traveled to West Palm Beach, Florida last week to compete in the Palm Beach Atlantic University Thanksgiving Classic and came away with a split in the two contests. On Friday, the Pioneers lost to PBA 83-76 but bounced back to defeat Flagler (FL) College 99-88 on Saturday. With the 1-1 week, Malone’s record now stands at 2-3 overall and 0-0 in the AMC South.
Against PBA, the Pioneers led 44-37 at halftime but were outscored 46-32 in the second period resulting in the 83-76 loss. Shane Conwell (Sr., Stow H.S.) and Chris Miller (So., Hiland H.S.) each scored 28 points to account for 56 of Malone’s 76 points. Jason Mishler (Sr., Hiland H.S.) added 14 points and dished out seven assists. Malone won the battle of the boards 40-36 as Conwell ripped down a team-best seven rebounds. Against Flagler, the Pioneers held a 10-point lead at the half (46-36) en route to the 99-88 victory. Five players hit double figures for Malone, including Conwell with 26 points. Mishler tallied 22 points followed by Miller with 16, Jesse Schlabach (So., Lake H.S.) with 15 points and James Hannum (So., Perry H.S.) with 10 points. Both Hannum and Conwell grabbed 10 boards but Malone was out-rebounded 43-36. In addition, Mishler dished out a game-high eight assists and collected six steals. This week, Malone (2-3, 0-0 AMC S) will kick off conference play on the road against Shawnee State University on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. The Pioneers will then host the Canton Marriott McKinley Grand Hotel Tournament on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, Daemen (NY) College will take on Campbellsville (KY) University in a 6:00 p.m. game followed by Malone vs. Concordia (MI) University at 8:00 p.m. On Saturday, the tournament's consolation game is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. with the championship game set for 3:00 p.m. This week's opponents: Concordia (MI) - Friday's meeting between Malone and Concordia will be the first ever for the teams...Concordia has a current record of 3-2 and defeated Olivet (MI) College 87-83 (2OT) in its most recent contest. Daemen (NY) - Malone holds a 9-2 advantage in the all-time series against Daemen...The Wildcats have a current record of 5-2. Campbellsville (KY) - Malone leads the all-time series against Campbellsville 1-0...The Tigers have a current record of 4-4 on the season. Women’s Basketball Falls To NAIA #2 Cedarville 93-72
The Malone College women’s basketball team lost to NAIA Div. II #2 ranked Cedarville University by the score of 93-72 on the road last Tuesday in its only contest of the week last week. With the loss, the Pioneers fall to 3-4 on the year and to 0-1 in the AMC South Division. Michelle Ling (Sr., Hiland H.S.) led the offense with 22 points followed by Nikki Parson (So., Garaway H.S.) with 14 points and Erica Mishler (So., Hiland H.S.) with 10 points. Parson also grabbed 10 rebounds but Malone lost the battle of the boards 42-31. This week, Malone (3-4, 0-1 AMC S) will travel to Ursuline College on Friday for a 7:00 p.m. tip off and to Roberts Wesleyan (NY) College on Saturday for a 4:00 p.m. start. This week's opponents: Ursuline - Malone holds a 5-0 advantage in the all-time series with Ursuline. The Arrows have a current record of 0-5 and are 0-1 in the AMC North Division. Roberts Wesleyan (NY) - Malone holds a 6-0 edge in the all-time series vs. the Raiders...RWC has a current record of 6-1 and a 1-0 mark in the AMC North Division.
