Heather Grovemiller Competes As Individual At NAIA Women's Golf National Championships

     By virtue of her individual first-place finish at last fall's NAIA Region IX Championships, Malone College's Heather Grovemiller (So., Perry H.S.) qualified as an individual to compete in the NAIA Women's Golf National Championships at the Blackthorn Golf Club in South Bend, Indiana last Tuesday through Friday.
     One of only five individuals competing among the roughly 120 competitors at the national event, Grovemiller fired rounds of 94, 91, 94 and 91 to post a total of 370 (+82) and finished 99th overall. 
     Oklahoma City University won the team national title at 1226 (315-309-306-296) for a +74 score as OCU's Emily Albrektson won the individual national title with rounds of 76, 75, 71 and 75 for a 297 score (+9), winning by 11 strokes. 

Several Track & Field Athletes Compete at Baldwin-Wallace Twilight Meet
 
     Several Malone College track & field athletes competed at the non-scoring Baldwin-Wallace College Twilight Meet last Friday.
     Sarah Decker (Sr., Pandora Gilboa H.S.) competed in the 5,000-meter run and finished in fifth place with a time of 18:18.94 while Erin Brown (Jr., Revere H.S.) competed in the pole vault and finished 17th at a height of 9' 8.5".
     This week, a total of 24 athletes (14 women, 10 men) will compete at the NAIA Outdoor National Championships in Louisville, Kentucky May 26-28.
