Athletic Department (x8300)

Athletic activities are an integral part of the college experience. They enhance school spirit and unity, as well as benefit players and spectators. Beyond entertainment, athletic programs provide opportunities to understand team concepts such as cohesion and discipline, help those involved learn to respond to victory and defeat, offer positions of leadership, and provide Christian coaches as mentors. Malone competes in nine (9) varsity sports for men: baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, tennis, indoor and outdoor track; and nine (9) varsity sports for women: basketball, cross country, softball, tennis, indoor and outdoor track, soccer, golf and volleyball. The College competes in the American Mideast Conference for all sports except football, which is a member of the Mid-States Football Association. The College is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletes, and the National Christian College Athletic Association.

Since the performance of the team and the reputation of the College depend greatly upon student support, students are encouraged to attend as many contests as possible to give full support to their teams. The highest standards of sportsmanship are expected of both players and spectators in striving to uphold the testimony of the College and to glorify the name of Christ.

The Career Development staff continues to provide opportunities for students and alumni to meet with employers through:
  • Annual events such as the Graduate School Fair, Summer Camp Fair, Stark County Collegiate Job Fair, Northeast Ohio Teacher Education Day, and the Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges – Career Fest
  • MaloneCareerConnections.com is a web-based job posting and résumé referral system that connects students with employers in the Northeast Ohio area.  Students can take advantage of the Job Agent which will notify them about jobs that are entered into the system matching with their fields of interest.
  • On-campus interviews
  • Career Development Advisory Council (local employers, faculty and students who have partnered with us to assess our programs, services, resources and events)

All students are encouraged to contact the Career Development Center and ask to meet with a career advisor.  Early preparation will help to ensure that each student will be fully equipped as they pursue their internship and full-time career endeavors.

The Physical Plant Department (x8258)

The physical plant, located in the C. Lyle Strand Building at the north end of campus (by the soccer/track field), is responsible for all physical aspects of the campus.

Motor Vehicle Regulations

Driving and parking on the Malone campus are privileges given to all students, so long as the student parking regulations are honored. All student vehicles must display a parking permit for the current academic year. This permit is obtained by registering your vehicle at the Physical Plant office. The fee is $40.00 per academic year, with a $10.00 late fee added if you registered after the first week of classes. Any student or family that plans to have more than one vehicle on campus at the same time, must purchase a separate permit for each vehicle. Parking permits must be displayed on the rear view mirror of your vehicle at all times. Failure to do so will result in a parking violation fine. Temporary parking permits must be obtained for students or visitors with an unregistered vehicle on campus. Temporary permits are granted at no cost to students, for a maximum period of two weeks per semester. Because of the number of pedestrians, driving on campus requires special attention. The speed limit is 15 m.p.h. campus wide. Speeding or reckless operation will not be tolerated. Parking will be in designated student parking areas only. Due to the limited parking facilities near academic buildings, it is suggested that student vehicles not be used for general transportation between campus buildings.

Parking is restricted along Yale Ave. N.W. in the vicinity of the Timken Science Building and the Canton Jewish Center. This is a dangerous area due to the narrow street and the amount of traffic. Parking is permitted only on the east side of the street (opposite side from Malone) and only south of the Jewish Center parking lot.

Malone contracts with the Canton Jewish Community Center and Bethel Temple for additional student parking. Students are required to follow the same parking regulations for these areas, as apply to all other campus parking lots.

By the request of First Christian Church, chapel parking for students at FCC is limited to the main lot on the east side (rear) of the building only. The Canton Christian Home lot (next door) may not be used for chapel per request of CCH. Failure to observe these parking restrictions during chapel will result in a citation.

Student parking regulations on campus will be strictly enforced. Parking violations include parking in faculty/staff, visitor or handicap areas, parking in posted fire lanes, in roadways or on lawns. These and other violations are subject to written citations and fines.

Repeated violations will result in revocation of student parking privileges and further disciplinary action. For a complete listing of Malone’s parking rules and fines, obtain a copy of the “Student Parking Regulations” booklet from the Physical Plant office.

Safety Office (x8111)

Campus Safety assists in the safety of all persons at Malone and the protection of both personal and College property. All officers receive training from Buckeye Protective Services and on-site instructions. They are here to help as well as to protect. The full cooperation of every student is required whenever approached by a safety officer.

The campus buildings are closed and locked when not in use. Entrance to a locked building is permitted only with the written permission of the staff member responsible for that area. Any student violating campus regulations or refusing to cooperate with a safety officer is subject to discipline up to and including suspension from the College.

Campus Safety can be easily reached if you need help in an emergency situation. If you are off-campus, call 471-8111, if you are on-campus call extension 8111. These numbers will be answered twenty-four hours a day. You will also find a safety officer on duty at The Gatehouse nightly. The Safety Department is here to help when needed. For more information, please refer to the “Home Malone, A Guide To Campus Safety” brochure.

Maintenance Department (x8258)

The Maintenance Department, located in the C. Lyle Strand Building, has daily hours from 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. weekdays. Resident students should make all maintenance requests by contacting your RA or RD. They are responsible for reporting repair items for you. If you have an emergency after hours, or on the weekend, notify your RA or RD who can then ask security to contact the maintenance person on duty. On weekdays, if you have a maintenance emergency and are not able to locate your RA or RD, call the Physical Plant office directly at extension 8258.
