Applying to Malone
At Malone, we strive to simplify the admissions process. To apply for admission as a transfer student, you should have achieved at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale and be in good academic and social standing at your current or previous college of attendance. Following are the steps to apply for admission as a transfer student:
  • Submit an undergraduate application for admission, along with a $20 application fee, which may be submitted online or by downloading a printable application
  • Request that official transcripts from all colleges you have previously attended be mailed to the Malone College Office of Admissions
  • If you are under 25 years of age and have earned fewer than 30 semester credit hours of transferable college credit, request that official high school transcripts (or official GED scores) and ACT/SAT score reports be sent to the Malone College Office of Admissions
  • If you are currently enrolled at another institution, you must also submit a transfer reference form
  • You must also submit “in progress” transcripts from the institution you currently attend even though you don’t have final grades
Although we consider applications on a rolling basis, for maximum financial aid consideration we recommend that you apply early for admission and financial aid prior to the semester you want to enroll at Malone College. Once your application materials have been received and reviewed for admission, a letter with an admissions decision will be mailed to you. At the same time, your file will be sent to the Registrar’s Office to assess your transfer of credits.

PLEASE NOTE: Malone offers a transfer articulation agreement with students who have attended Stark State College of Technology.

Bring Your Experience with You
Every effort is made to fairly assess and apply the course work you have completed previously toward your Malone degree. Here are a few of the guidelines that govern the transfer of credit:
  • Course work at other regionally accredited institutions for which you have earned a grade of “C” or better is usually considered transfer credit.
  • Your grade point average does not transfer; however, a grade point average for all course work in the major (including transfer courses) will be calculated.
  • Transfer credits will be posted to your permanent transcript after you have completed at least 15 semester credit hours at Malone with a grade point average of 2.0 or higher.
  • There is no standard for the number of credits that can be transferred from an accredited college; hours vary and are determined by a number of criteria as stated in the College Catalog. The Registrar’s Office and the School you are planning to enter (for the academic program you have chosen) will determine how your transfer credits will apply toward your Malone degree requirements.
After your file has been assessed for credit transfer by the Registrar’s Office and the School you plan to enter, the evaluation report will be available from the Office of Admissions.

You may schedule an appointment to meet with your academic advisor to talk through registration and your plan for graduation once your credit transfer has been completed.

To graduate, you must complete at least 30 semester hours at Malone College, with at least 12 hours at Malone in your major.
