Applying to Malone At Malone, we strive to simplify the admissions process. To apply for admission as a transfer student, you should have achieved at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale and be in good academic and social standing at your current or previous college of attendance. Following are the steps to apply for admission as a transfer student:

Bring Your Experience with You Every effort is made to fairly assess and apply the course work you have completed previously toward your Malone degree. You may schedule an appointment to meet with your academic advisor to talk through registration and your plan for graduation once your credit transfer has been completed. To graduate, you must complete at least 30 semester hours at Malone College, with at least 12 hours at Malone in your major. Frequently Asked Questions
1. What are the admission requirements for a transfer student?
Generally, transfer students must be in good academic standing at their present institution and have a grade point average of at least a 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale). 2. What credits will transfer? An official evaluation of your college credits will be made after you have formally applied to the college. Coursework at other regionally accredited institutions for which you have earned a “C” or better is usually considered for transfer credit. 3. Will my grade point average transfer? No, grades & grade point averages do not transfer --your previous grades will be used to determine eligibility for admission to Malone College. Previous grades will also be used to determine eligibility for other honors and awards. 4. How many credits can I transfer? We have no limit on how many credit hours will transfer, however, you must complete a minimum of 30 semester hours on our campus to graduate from Malone College. 5. Am I required to live on campus? Undergraduate students are required to reside in the Malone College Residence Halls unless they are commuting daily from the homes of their parents, guardians, or spouse. Undergraduate students may also live “off campus” if they have obtained “senior” status or if they have reached 22 years of age. 6. How do I apply for financial aid? Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The result of the FAFSA, called the SAR (Student Aid Report), will be sent to you and the college will receive an electronic download of this information. If you already are in possession of your original SAR, you may contact the Malone College Financial Aid Office (330-471-8159) for assistance…be prepared to supply our office with your DRN (Data Release Number). The Malone College Title IV code is 003072. 7. Are there academic scholarships available for transfer students? Yes, students who transfer to Malone College with a cumulative college GPA of 3.25 or higher may be eligible for academic scholarships. For students with less than 30 semester hours, the awards will be based upon your college and high school academic performance as well as your ACT/SAT test results. |
