Kappa Delta Pi (Rho Tau Chapter)
Kappa Delta Pi is an International Honor Society in Education. The Malone College chapter, Rho Tau, is over ten years old. Students seeking degrees with an intent to teach are eligible for invitation to membership after completing 45 credit hours, including 12 in education coursework and achieving a 3.25 GPA or higher.
Malone College Radio (WMAL)
(AM) 1610, low power AM broadcast, current, focuses upon contemporary Christian music. It is the aim of the station to provide “on the air” experience for students and also to provide programs of information, education, and entertainment for the residents of Malone. Any interested student may become involved. Experienced staff will often fill work-study positions.
Marching Band
The Pioneer Spirit Marching Band adds excitement to Malone College football games. The band presents pre-game and half time performances for all home football games and at band show and exhibitions at band competitions. The marching Band is open to all Malone students. Call the Fine Arts Office at 471-8231 for an audition.
Music Teachers Association (OMTA/MTNA)
Music Teachers National Association is a national organization and Ohio Music Teachers Association is a state organization. Independent (private) teachers and college teachers comprise this organization. Music students preparing to teach private lessons are encouraged to join the student OMTA chapter for annual membership fee, which includes a state and national membership.
Nurses Christian Fellowship (N.C.F.)
This is a local chapter of Nurses Christian Fellowship. Membership consists of nurses and nursing students interested in spiritual growth and witness as well as a Christian responsibility for others and the profession of nursing.
Nursing Students Association (M.N.S.A)
Membership consists of nursing students interested in promoting quality health care, the growth and development of nursing students, and the support of nursing program through selected activities. Nursing students may apply for membership in the National Student Nurses’ Association (N.S.N.A) and participate in the political arena at state and national conventions.
Ohio Music Educators Association (OCMEA/MENC)
Music Educators National Conference (MENC) is a national organization and Ohio Collegiate Music Educators Association (OCMEA) is a state organization. Music educators in both private and public education are members of this group. Music education majors at Malone are encouraged to join the student OCMEA chapter for an annual membership fee that includes state and national membership and a discounted registration fee for the state convention.
One Voice
The Lord has led this organization to offer the flavor of Urban Gospel music to the Malone campus and community. This is done in such a way that His glory is revealed through song. Membership in this organization is open to all members of the Malone College community. Non-students may affiliate with this organization by meeting all the regular requirements for membership including a desire to serve the Lord through praise and worship through urban style music.
Outdoor Adventure Club
The Outdoor Adventure Club is designed to provide Malone students with opportunities to be involved in outdoor activities such as camping, canoeing, and caving, to develop skills in these areas, and to meet the Lord who created these areas. Open to any student with interest.
Penn, Gurney, Barclay Residence Hall Council
The governing body of the Penn, Gurney, Barclay residence hall. Leaders are elected by residents of PGB to promote programming and community improvements.
Pep Band
The Pep Band is a volunteer group providing enthusiastic moral support at both men’s and women’s basketball games. Open to all Malone students. No audition required.
Philos
The Philos is the annual student yearbook published with Student Senate appropriated funds. See the editor in the Philos Office, located in the Randall Campus Center for information on how to join the staff.
The Phiz is the annual pictorial student directory, which is published and distributed by Communication Committee at the beginning of the year.
Psychology Club The mission of the Psychology Club is to foster intellectual, social, and spiritual growth in students and to promote student and faculty-student interaction outside of the classroom. The group gets together for events such as film discussions, professional talks by psychologists, service projects (e.g., making care packages for international students, singing for people in nursing homes, volunteering at Habitat for Humanity), and social events (e.g., ice skating, laser tag, picnics). PSYCH Club is open to psychology majors and minors and liberal arts students with a concentration in psychology.
Rotoract
The purpose of Rotoract is to provide an opportunity for young men and women to enhance the knowledge and skills that will assist them in personal development, to address the physical and social needs of their communities, and to promote better relations between all people worldwide through a framework of friendship and service. Membership consists of young men and women of good character and leadership potential between the ages of 18 and 30.
Sigma Delta Mu is an offspring of the National Spanish Honorary Sigma Delta Pi—it adheres to the same principles: 1. recognizing students interested in the Spanish language and culture, 2. recognizing excellence in the study of the Spanish language, and 3. providing a forum for Spanish-related issues.
Sigma Theta Tau International (Pi Chi Chapter)
Pi Chi is Malone’s chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International. The vision of STTI is to create a global community of nurse leaders and scholars. Individually and collectively these individuals shape the health of citizens through their practices, research, and education of self and others. They influence global health by caring for patients and families, and by collaborating with colleagues in other disciplines in decision-making and policy development.
Sigma Zeta (Alpha Gamma Chapter)
Sigma Zeta is a national honor society for science and mathematics. The purpose is two-fold: 1. to encourage and foster and 2. recognize and honor scholarly achievement in the natural sciences, computer sciences and mathematics. Sigma Zeta members are encourages to conduct research and present at the national meeting.
Social Work Students Association
SWSA is a local club for social work majors.
The purpose of this organization is to provide activities, which promote ideas of cultural diversity and understanding. Membership is open to any interested student.
Spiritual Life Committee
Operating under the direction of the Student Senate Spiritual Life Director, this committee plans a number of Christian Life activities each semester. Involvement in this committee is open to anyone interested.
The Student Activities Committee works to provide creative and enjoyable activities on and off campus in order to enhance positive social interaction, facilitate healthy relationship development, and provide leadership development opportunities through involvement. SAC works cooperatively with other campus organizations, and encourages meaningful student connections with Faculty and Staff through diverse student activities. It is the goal of SAC to develop and nurture a strong sense of community at Malone College. Committee membership and weekly meetings are open to all Malone students.
Student Education Association (MSEA)
Membership shall be open to any students interested in or enrolled in the teacher education program of Malone College. To be considered a member of MSEA, a Malone College student must attend at least half of the meetings during one school year.
Students in Action
This is a consortium of Malone student leaders dedicated to seeking out community service opportunities and organizing trips on a regular basis to meet these needs. Participation in SIA activities is open to all students; information is available in the Director of Campus Ministries’ office.
Symphonic Band
The Symphonic Band performs both traditional and contemporary compositions from the wind band repertoire at three major concerts each year. Open to all Malone students. Call the Fine Arts Office at 471-8231.
Tau Chi Kappa
An organization where students from third-world countries can fellowship and share experiences.
Theatre
The Malone College Theatre is open to all students of the College. Several productions are presented each y ear. Casting and crew assignments are open to all students of the College. Unity Under Christ
This organization was created to stimulate an awareness of pride and culture among minority students and other students. Membership is open to any interested student.
Women’s Concert Choir
The Women’s Concert choir generally had 35-45 women selected by audition. The Women’s Concert Choir performs in area churches throughout the year and at special campus events. Open to all Malone students by audition.
