New Student Orientation

Why we do what we do

New Student Orientation is a time to help students and their parents become better acquainted with Malone College and smoothly make the transition to college.  During this time students meet their roommates or fellow commuter students, move into the residence halls, purchase books/supplies and attend seminars on various aspects of college life.  Parents are encouraged to attend the first day of orientation with their Malone student.  Family members are invited to attend small group seminars and then to join the students at the conclusion of the day for a worship service.  The following days are spent with a good mix of education programs and social opportunities.

Orientation Theme
The theme for this year's orientation program is taken from the scripture found in II Corinthians 10:5b, we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.  This theme will be used throughout our orientation program.  An enthusiastic Student Senate will have the campus decorated with hundreds of balloons and station themselves at the main entrance to welcomed 1400 new students and their families.  Close to 100 Malone students and staff, the College Experience Course Assistants, as well members of Malone Young Alumni will help students move in to their residence hall.   After lunch, students and their family members will go to The Johnson Center for Worship and The Fine Arts for information sessions as well as small group sessions.  At the conclusion of the sessions, students and their families will enjoy a worship service coordinated by the President’s Leadership Team.   After  parent leave for the day, all new students will enjoy their first official dinner in the dining hall.  Following dinner a group picture will be taken of the new freshmen class.  Then all 550 new students will compete in the Student Olympics on the Intramural l Field.  The following days were be filled with a trip to Camp Gideon, seminars, as well as a variety of social activities including Into the Streets, Rootbeer Floats, and Karaoke.
