Gordon Werkema, Ph.D., came to Malone after having served as president of Trinity Christian College Consortium and as first president of the Christian College Coalition, now known as the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU). He served as Malone's ninth president. On his watch, the College launched the Malone College Management Program, received approval from both the Ohio Board of Regents and the Ohio Board of Nursing to offer the bachelor of science in nursing, and realized a trend of consecutive balanced budgets, which continues to this day.
