Refund Policies

Financial Services

Should a student find it necessary to drop a course or withdraw from the college, he or she may receive a full or partial refund of tuition providing the appropriate procedures are followed in a timely manner.  To initiate this process, you must call (330) 471-8423, toll free at (866) 221-8245, or email the Malone Online Registrar at registrar@malone-online.org.

Non-participation in the online course does not constitute an official withdrawal. The student receives no refund unless the drop/withdrawal is official.

Dropping a Course

Course drops are subject to a $10 drop fee.  Technology fees are non-refundable.

Course drops resulting in a change of status from full-time to part-time may change billing and financial aid.  Please contact the Financial Aid Office to determine the net change to the student financial account.

Withdrawing from the College

Students officially withdrawing from the college (concurrent withdrawal from all online classes, traditional classroom courses, and residence halls as applicable) are subject to a refund schedule different from those above. A copy of the withdrawal schedule may be found in the College catalog.

All withdrawals from the College are subject to a $100 withdrawal fee.

The official date of withdrawal used to calculate the refund of tuition, fees, and room & board if applicable, and also to determine the return of financial aid if awarded will be:
  1. The date the student contacts the Malone Online Registrar or Office of the Registrar to withdraw, or
  2. The mid-point of the semester, if no contact is made by the student, or
  3. The student’s last date of attendance at a documented academic activity.
If you have qualified for financial aid, please contact the Financial Aid Office at (330) 471-8159, toll free at (800) 521-1146, or via email to finaid@malone.edu for a calculation of the student refund and of the returns required to financial aid programs in order to determine the net effect to the student account.  Students may wish to make this request before officially withdrawing from the college.
