Women’s Golf Team Takes Third at NAIA Regional Championships

The Malone women, who now primarily compete in the fall, opened anthoner solid fall season on September 11th with a second-place finish at the Urbana University Invitational.  The Pioneers carded a score of 371 as Tiffin University claimed the team title at 355. Junior Megan Grubb (Lake H.S.) paced the Pioneers with a round of 89 to finish fourth overall and earn All-Tournament Team honors.
 
Malone next participated in the Walsh University Invitational on September 25-26, claiming a fourth place finish in a strong six-team field. The Pioneers recorded a two-day total of 713 (355-358) as Trevecca Nazarene (TN) University won the tournament at 682.  Senior Heather Grovemiller (Perry H.S.) led Malone with a score of 166 (85-81), taking All-Tournament team accolades with a third-place overall finish.
 
The Pioneers wrapped up their fall campaign at the conference/regional championship meet on October 16th with a third-place finish out of seven teams.  Malone carded a one-day score of 375 as Tiffin won the tournament, thus earning an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championships next spring, with a score of 344. Grovemiller again led the Pioneers with a score of 91 to place tenth overall in the competition.
