Malone Men's Golf Competes In Hawaii Over Spring Break

     The Malone College men's golf team, led by veteran head coach Ken Hyland, competed against three teams at the Turtle Bay Golf Resort in Oahu, Hawaii last Friday.  The Malone A team finished third among a five-team field at 308 as BYU-Hawaii won the event at 302, Hawaii-Pacific University placed second at 307, Malone B took fourth at 317 and Chaminade University was fifth at 332.
     Scores for the Malone A team were:
          Darren Phipps (Jr., Lake H.S.)  76
          Scotty Jones (Sr., East Palestine H.S.)  76
          Grant Gates (Sr., River Valley H.S.)   77
          Jordan Grubb (Sr., Lake H.S.)  79

     Scores for the Malone B were: 
          Matt Strayer (Jr., Riverside H.S.)  74
          Ben Smith (Fr., Carrollton H.S.)  76
          Nate Garwood (Sr., Ridgedale H.S.)  82

     In addition, Mark Zimmerman (Fr., GlenOak H.S.) competed as an individual and fired an 86.
     Malone is idle this week and will next compete at the Eastern Kentucky University Invitational March 30-31.

Men's Tennis Team loses a close one to Mount Union
     The Malone College men's tennis team lost a close match to Mount Union College 5-4 last Monday on the road.  The loss was the Pioneers' first of the season and put their record at 3-1 on the year.

Women's Tennis Team Loses To Mount Union 6-3

     The Malone College women's tennis team, led by first-year head coach Dan Bernard, lost to NCAA Div. III Mount Union College in an away contest last Wednesday by the score of 6-3 in its only match of the week.  With the loss, the team now stands at 0-2 on the season.
