Dr. Chambers joined the Malone faculty in 1996 after teaching at the University of Minnesota, Duluth for 13 years and at The Ohio State University for six years (as a grad assistant and lecturer). Her areas of expertise include women writers, Victorian literature, life writing (memoir, autobiography, diaries, etc.), and literary theory, which may be why her favorite classes to teach are Women Writers, Memoir and Autobiography, Applied Literary Theory, and the honors seminar Changing Roles of Men and Women. She admits any class can be a favorite when the students are deeply engaged in the learning process. In 2005, she received the Distinguished Faculty Award for Teaching.

In addition to teaching English, Dr. Chambers serves as director of the Honors Program. She regularly teaches Honors English Composition, co-teaches Changing Roles of Men and Women with Dr. Marcia Everett, and has directed honors theses.
