Changing or Resetting Your Password

On July 23rd all student passwords will be reset to the Default Malone College password.  On this date students  will  be required to set-up and use our new Self Service Password Reset System before they can continue to use Malone College technology resources.
 
The new Self Service Password Reset System will enable you to do the following:
  • Setup security questions
  • Change your password
Once you have changed your password using the Self Service Password Reset System you will be able to access all of your Malone College Technology resources using your new password. Additionally, our Self-Service Password Reset System will allow you to reset your password at any time, from anywhere if it has been forgotten or compromised.

What is my username?
 
Students - Your username can be determined by using the following formula:
 
Username = first initial, middle initial, last name, and the number 1, 2, 3, etc.
                  Sample name: John Q. Public
                  Username: jqpublic1
 
Faculty/Staff - Your username is your first initial followed by your last name. Example: jpublic
 
 

 
What is my default password?
 
Students - Your default password can be determined by using the following formula:
 
Default Password = first initial, middle initial, last initial, followed by the last 4 digits of your social security number (If no SS#, try 4 zeros.)
               
                   Sample name: John Q. Public --- SS#: 111-22-1234
                   Password: jqp1234
 
Faculty/Staff - Please call the Help Desk (x8428) to obtain your password.
 
 


How can I change my password?
  
 
In order to use the Password Reset System all first-time student users must log into the system with their current username and password.  NOTE: On July 23rd all student passwords will be reset to the Default Malone College password.  Staff and faculty members will not be affected by this change.
    1. Go to the following website:  http://userid.malone.edu
    2. Set the Domain Name:
      Students will select: Student Domain
      Faculty/Staff will select: Malone Domain
    3. Enter Login ID
    4. Click on “Login” button
    5. Enter your password
    6. Click on “Verify Password” button

From the “Your Current Challenge Response Q & A” Screen you will be prompted to select four security questions.  To select a question:

  1. Click on the drop down arrow in the question field and click on selected question 
  2. Provide your answer in the corresponding text box. 
  3. Click on “Submit Changes” button
From the “Main Menu Screen” you will be able to change your password. 
  1. Click on the “Change Passwords” link
  2. Enter new password
  3. Confirm new password
  4. Click on the “Change my Password” button.

From the “Password Change Results” Screen you will receive confirmation that your password was changed successfully.

You have now successfully set-up the Password Reset System. In the future should you need to change your password use either the “Reset your password when you have forgotten your password” function or the “Change your password when you know your current password” function.
 
 
What if I have forgotten my password?
 
 
If you have forgotten your password, but you have setup your question and answer pairs within the Password Reset System and need to reset your password:
    1. Go to the following website:  http://userid.malone.edu
    2. Set the Domain Name:
      Students will select: Student Domain
      Faculty/Staff will select: Malone Domain
    3. Enter Login ID
    4. Click on “Login” button
From the “Select an Authentication Method” Screen
    1. Click on “Answer Personal Questions” button
    2. Answer your personal questions.
    3. Click on the “continue” button
From the “Main Menu” Screen
  1. Click on the “Change Passwords” link
  2. Enter new password
  3. Confirm new password
  4. Click on the “Change my Password” button.
From the “Password Change Results” Screen you will receive confirmation that your password was changed successfully.
If you have forgotten your password and have not setup your question and answer pairs within the Password Reset System, you will need to contact the Help Desk (330.471.8428) to make arrangements to have your password reset.  We must confirm your identity to reset your password.
