Malone Loses At Mt. Vernon Nazarene 2-0The Malone College women's soccer team lost to Mt. Vernon Nazarene University 2-0 on Wednesday. The host Cougars scored both of their goals in the first half to take the early lead which ended up being the final tally. MVNU scored just three minutes into the contest on a shot into the upper corner of the goal and then, late in the first half, the Cougars got their second and final goal of the afternoon on a penalty kick to secure the 2-0 win over Malone.
Mt. Vernon Nazarene held a 23-4 shots on goal advantage over Malone as Pioneer starting keeper Sam Brown (Jr., Butler, PA), who played the first half, posted four saves while goalie Merisa Salazar (Jr., San Jose, CA), who played the second half, recorded three saves. The MVNU keeper had one save on the day.
With the loss, Malone dropped to 0-2-0 on the year (0-0-0 AMC North) while MVNU improved to 1-2-0 overall. |
