Pioneers Down Edinboro (PA) 3-1

 
The Malone College volleyball team knocked off NCAA Division II Edinboro (PA) University three games to one at Osborne Hall Wednesday night.  With the 30-25, 30-26, 21-30, 30-28 victory, the Pioneers improved their overall record to 8-9 while the Fighting Scots dropped to 10-5.
 
Lori Ickes (Fr., Smithville H.S.) led the way for Malone with 12 kills and 12 digs.  Jen Gahagan (Fr., Ravenna Southeast H.S.) added 11 kills, five blocks, and nine digs while Kristen Schoolcraft (So., McKinley H.S.) tallied nine kills and five blocks (one solo).  Also contributing to the non-conference win was Emily Beiting (Fr., Ft. Thomas, KY) with seven kills and nine digs, Erica Gann (So., Meadowbrook H.S.) with seven kills and seven blocks (three solo), and Alyssa Dibell (So., Fairless H.S.) with 48 assists.
 
The squad will next travel to Amherst, New York on Saturday (9/22) to participate in an American Mideast Conference North Division tri-match.  The Pioneers will play a neutral contest with Point Park (PA) University (13-4, 0-0 AMC N) at 1:00 p.m. before facing host Daemen (NY) College (5-9, 0-0 AMC N) at 3:00 p.m.
