Darren Phipps Claims Third Consecutive NCCAA Student Athlete Of The Week AwardDarren Phipps, a senior member of the Malone men’s golf team, was recently named the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association) Men’s Golf Student Athlete of the Week following his strong performance at last weekend’s Eastern Kentucky Fall Classic. This week’s recognition marks the third time in three weeks that the native of Hartville, Ohio (Lake H.S.) has received the national award from the NCCAA.
Competing primarily against NCAA Division I schools last Friday and Saturday, Phipps led the Pioneers to a second-place finish among nine teams after placing fourth overall with a three-round score of 208 (73-67-68). This outstanding performance tied the Malone 54-hole individual record that was originally set by Josh Anderson at the 2001 NAIA Region IX Tournament.
The Pioneers will next compete at the NCCAA National Championships on October 8-9. |
