Three Second Half Goals Lift Roberts Wesleyan (NY) Over Malone

The Malone College women’s soccer team traveled to Rochester, New York on Saturday where they suffered a 3-0 loss to fellow American Mideast Conference North Division member Roberts Wesleyan College.  The shutout loss dropped Malone’s record to 6-5-0 (2-2-0 AMC North) while Roberts Wesleyan improved to 5-6-0 (4-1-0 AMC N).

Saturday's match remained scoreless until early in the second half as the Raiders took control by tallying three quick scores over a 12-minute span en route to the 3-0 win.  The Pioneers posted ten shots on goal in the match but were unable to beat Roberts Wesleyan keeper Rachel Popowych, who notched a 10-save shutout.  The Raiders blasted 18 shots on goal over the course of the afternoon while Malone keepers Merisa Salazar (Jr., San Jose, CA) and Sam Brown (Jr., Butler, PA) combined to stop 15 shots.

This week, Malone (6-5-0, 2-2-0 AMC N) will compete in just one contest, a 4:00 p.m. match at Ursuline College (3-7-0, 1-1-0 AMC N) on Tuesday (10/2) afternoon.
