Marcos Batchelor's Second-Half Goal Lifts Malone to 1-0 Win Over Geneva (PA)

The Malone College men's soccer team picked up a 1-0 win at home on Saturday over visiting Geneva (PA) College as Pioneer forward Marcos Batchelor (So., London, England) scored the contest's first and only goal in the 57th minute of play.  The victory, combined with Wednesday's triumph over Urbana University, gives Malone its first back-to-back wins of the season and improves the Pioneers' record to 5-7-0 overall (1-1-0 AMC North).  Geneva, meanwhile, drops to 9-3-0 (1-1-0 PAC).

Both teams were held without a shot on goal during the first half of play in Saturday's contest.  The Pioneers were able to get the offense going in the second stanza, though, as Batchelor drilled home the game-winning score on a pass from midfielder Zach Rausch (Jr., Cuyahoga Falls H.S.) with just over 33 minutes remaining in the game.  Malone registered two shots on goal in the match while Geneva goal keeper Sam McCracken posted one save.  Pioneer goal keeper Mike Porter (Sr., Highland H.S.) stopped the only Golden Tornado shot that he faced to record his second shutout of the season.

This week, Malone (5-7-0, 1-1-0 AMC N) will travel to Shawnee State University (5-6-1, 1-2-0 AMC S) on Monday for a 4:30 p.m. contest with the Bears.  The squad will then host AMC North Division foe Houghton (NY) College (5-2-3, 1-1-0) on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
