Malone Currently Tied For Sixth After Day One At NCCAA Nationals

The Malone College men's golf team is currently tied for sixth among an 18-team field after day one at the two-day NCCAA National Championships in Panama City, Florida October 8-9.  At the Hombre Golf Course, Malone posted a score of 305 while Southeastern (OK) University is in first at 298.  North Greenville (SC) College is currently second at 301, Olivet Nazarene (IL) University is in third at 302, Spring Arbor (MI) University is in the fourth spot at 303 and Southern Wesleyan (SC) University rounds out the current top five at 304.
 
Michael Strayer (So., Riverside H.S.) paces Malone after round one with a score of 74, which puts him in a tie for sixth overall.  Darren Phipps (Sr., Lake H.S.) and Justin Lower (Fr., Northwest H.S.) are also in the top 25, just one shot back at 75 in a tie for 14th.
 
The final round will be played today (Tue., Oct. 9th).
