Pioneers Play To 1-1 Tie At Shawnee State

 
The Malone College men’s soccer team played to a 1-1 draw in Monday afternoon’s match at Shawnee State University.  The Pioneers entered the second half of the contest with a 1-0 advantage, but the Bears were able to knot the score with a goal in the 63rd minute of play.  The contest then remained deadlocked at 1-1 over the remainder of regulation and two overtime periods.  Following their first tie of the season, the Pioneers’ record now stands at 5-7-1 (1-1-0 AMC North) while Shawnee State moves to 5-6-2 (1-2-0 AMC South).
 
Forward Marcos Batchelor (So., London, England) accounted for Malone’s lone goal of the match as he scored off a pass from midfielder Dean Greenland (Fr., London, England) in the 17th minute.  Gonzalo Perez-Beck then got the Bears on the scoreboard midway through the second half.  The Pioneers tallied 13 shots on goal during the match while goal keeper Mike Porter (Sr., Highland H.S.) made three saves.  The Bears, meanwhile, tallied four shots on goal and 12 saves.
 
Malone will next host Houghton (NY) College (5-2-3, 1-1-0 AMC North) on Saturday (10/13) at 3:30 p.m.
