We stole this idea from the Quaker educator, Parker Palmer (some of you may remember him from the 1998 Faculty Retreat). That reminds me of something a former faculty member used to say: "teaching is thieving." Well then, what can we "take away" from our own experiences as students in the classes of good teacher? In this event we will share stories of good teachers that focus on the character traits (or virtues) and the practices that made them good teachers. Participants will be invited to compose brief written accounts of two good teachers, one from K through 12 and one from higher education. Some of these accounts will be posted on the Malone College web site so that they can continue to inspire the teachers on campus.
