Effective ways to directly and authentically assess student learning usually involve performance and product assessment. However these types of assessments introduce the feat of subjective evaluation. With important student learning outcomes in mind, how can we make our observing and assessing less biased and more valid and reliable? This mini workshop will allow you the opportunity to consider when best to use performance and product assessment and how rubrics can be constructed to keep your observation properly focused and evaluation more consistent. The session will include time to work on rubrics and the opportunity to recieve feedback.
