 Collecting Items for Sudan
Drs. Andrea Farenga and Kelly Kirksey are collecting items to help brothers and sisters in Sudan minister to a new influx of Sudanese refugees returning home from refugee camps in Uganda.
Please donate items that are in good, clean condition; no donation is too small! Everything collected will be transported in a large shipping container to South Sudan.  There are pastors, evangelists, Bible School students and new Christians who don't have Bibles, which are deeply desired. If you have an extra NIV or similiar translation, please consider that gift. Theology books for the Bible school are needed as well. Items may be delivered to the Alumni office in the Johnson Center.  A full list of items includes: Clothes (for warm/hot weather - it is never cold!), elementary and junior high school materials, shoes, eyeglasses, Bibles, children's books, soccer balls, notebooks, pencils, pens, markers, paper, glue, crayons, non-perishable food, solar-powered lamps, solar panels, manual tools (drills, saws, chisels, planes, etc.), nails, screws, screwdrivers, chainsaws, 4-wheelers, motorcycles, laptops/pcs,  bicycles, mountain bikes, first aid medical supplies, crutches, canes, backpacks/bags, tents, towels, and soap.

Faculty Notes

The following 2007-2008 Distinguished Faculty Awards were given in April:
Teaching,  Andrew Rudd, Associate Professor of Communication Arts
Service Award,  Ann Lawson, Instructor of Communication Arts
Scholarship, Shawn Floyd, Associate Professor of Philosophy
Jesse Ayers, Professor of Music
Jesse Ayers' composition "Dance of the Mountain Raindrops" for piano and string orchestra was broadcast twice over March 24-26 on Serbia's national television-radio network, RTS, according to an email Jesse received from concert pianist Dubravka Jovicic of Belgrade, Serbia.  The 3/24 broadcast was on their national television and the 3/26 broadcast was on their national radio. Ms. Jovicic recorded Jesse's work in 1992 with the RTS Symphony Orchestra when it was selected for a then new TV series "World Premiere," a weekly program dedicated to premiering new concert works by living composers.  Because of the the war which broke out at that time, it was not for 10 years or so that Jesse discovered that the work had been recorded and broadcast.

Ken Stoltzfus,

Ken’s article, Spiritual Interventions in Substance Abuse Treatment and Prevention: A Review of the Literature, was published in Volume 26, Issue 4 of the Journal of Religion and Spirituality in Social Work.
