Malone Suffers 3-1 Defeat At Daemen (NY)

The Malone College women’s soccer team dropped a hard-fought American Mideast Conference North Division match on the road Saturday to Daemen (NY) College by the final score of 3-1.  The Wildcats took command of the contest by tallying three quick goals within the first 21 minutes of the match.  Malone was able to avoid the shutout when Aleesha Denmeade (Jr., North Canton Hoover) scored off a pass from Vanessa Schmidt (Fr., Lake H.S.) in the final minute of the second half, but it was not enough as Daemen held on for the 3-1 win.  With the loss, the Pioneers dropped to 9-8-0 (3-4-0 AMC N) on the season while the Wildcats improved to 5-10-0 (3-3-0 AMC N).

Malone notched seven shots on goal over the course of the afternoon while Pioneer goal keeper Merisa Salazar (Jr., San Jose, CA) tallied six saves.  Daemen, meanwhile, recorded nine shots on goal and six saves.

This week, Malone (9-8-0, 3-4-0 AMC N) will not compete as its regular season has concluded.  While Malone will not qualify for AMC postseason competition, the team could possibly compete in the NCCAA East Regionals.
