Pioneers Fall 4-0 To Notre Dame (OH)

The Malone College men’s soccer team concluded its regular season schedule on Saturday afternoon at home with a 4-0 loss to American Mideast Conference North Division opponent Notre Dame (OH) College.  The Falcons (14-2-2, 5-0-0 AMC Noth), ranked 25th in the most recent NAIA National Poll, jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with a pair of goals in the first ten minutes of play.  The visitors then maintained this advantage until midway through the second half when they added scores in the 63rd and 76th minutes to secure the 4-0 win.  The loss dropped the Pioneers’ record to 6-10-2 (2-3-0 AMC North) on the season and eliminated Malone from NAIA postseason contention (a victory would have vaulted the Pioneers ahead of Roberts Wesleyan (NY) College for the third and final AMC North playoff spot).

Malone registered three shots on goal during the match compared to eights shots on goal for Notre Dame.  Pioneer goal keeper Mike Porter (Sr., Highland H.S.) notched four saves while Falcon keeper Craig Pickering stopped all three shots on goal that he faced.
