Pioneers Earn NCCAA East Region Honors

Five Malone College women’s soccer players were recently recognized for their outstanding efforts this season with selection to the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) All-East Region Team.

Junior forward Alysia Ramirez (San Jose, CA) earned First Team honors after scoring six goals and dishing out three assists (15 total points) this season. 

Four Pioneer athletes were named NCCAA East Region Honorable Mention including junior goalkeepers Merisa Salazar (San Jose, CA) and Sam Brown (Butler, PA) and freshmen midfielders Katie Heckman (Mars, PA) and Lauren Armbrust (Chippewa H.S.).  Salazar played in 16 games this season and posted a 1.72 goals-against average with three shutouts while Brown played in eight games and had a 1.37 goals-against average with one shutout.  Heckman and Armbrust had an identical two goals and two assists each on the season.
 
Malone finished the season with an overall record of 9-8-0 and a 3-4-0 American Mideast Conference North Division record (tied for fourth among eight teams).
