Tyler Renner Collects NCCAA Student Athlete Of The Week Honors

Tyler Renner, of Sugarcreek, Ohio (Garaway H.S.) and a senior forward on the Malone College men’s basketball team, was recently named the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Men’s Basketball Student Athlete of the Week following his impressive play in a pair of games during the week of December 10-16, 2007. 
 
Renner averaged 17.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game to help the Pioneers post a 2-0 record last week.  The 6’6” senior tallied 16 points and 12 boards in a 76-60 victory over Wilberforce University on Thursday evening.  He then posted 18 points, five rebounds and two blocks in just 20 minutes of play during the Pioneers’ dominating 101-55 win against Christendom (VA) College on Saturday afternoon.  Renner shot 61.9% (13-21) from the field on the week, knocked down three of six (50%) three-point attempts, and made five of his six (83.3%) free throws.
 
Following the pair of victories, Malone’s overall record improved to 9-4 on the season.  The Pioneers will next travel to The Ohio State University at Marion on Thursday evening for a 7:00 p.m. contest with the Scarlet Wave.
