Indoor Track & Field Teams Compete At Kent State MeetThe Malone College men's and women's indoor track & field teams competed at the Doug Raymond Invitational hosted by Kent State University last Saturday.
For the men's team, Jeb Ford (Jr., Minerva H.S.) won the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.06 seconds and he also finished second in the 200 meters in 22:57. Shane McLaughlin (So., Caldwell H.S.) won the high jump at 6'2" while Steve Young (Fr., Gladstone, MO) took second in the triple jump (41' 4.5"). In addition, Josh Gortney (Sr., Sandy Valley H.S.) placed third in the pole vault at 14' 7.25".
For the women's team, Laura McElrath (Sr., Tallmadge H.S.) placed second in the high jump at 5'1" while Holly Motter (Jr., Mt. Union, PA) took second in the triple jump at 34' 1.25". In addition, Vallie Scott (Jr., West Branch H.S.) placed third in the 400 meters (1:01.45). In the relay events, the women's distance medley relay unit of Amanda Theis (Fr., Seneca East H.S.), Megan Patton (Jr., Perry H.S.), Kim Winton (Jr., Medina H.S.) and Kayleigh Bildstein (Fr., Madison H.S.) placed second in 12:58.92 while the women's 4x400 meter relay team of Laura Scott (Fr., West Branch H.S.), McElrath, Beth Costello (Fr., Canton South H.S.) and Vallie Scott placed third in 4:06.95.
The teams are off this week and will next compete at the University of Akron Open February 1-2 and at the Mt. Union College Invitational Feb. 2. |
