Media Equipment Checkout Policy

  
Starting Monday, August 20, 2007 Media Services will be implementing a new system for checking out equipment.  You will need a valid Malone ID in order to borrow laptops, photo, video, or audio equipment.  The checkout process will be the same as checking out a book from the Library, utilizing a barcode scanner to track check-out history and availability.  

In order to better serve all faculty, staff and students wanting to use our equipment, we have shortened the rental period to 3 days from the day of checkout.  Equipment may be renewed for an additional 3 days by contacting the Media Services office.  There is a limit of one renewal per checkout. 

We will also be implementing late fees to ensure the equipment is returned in a timely manner.  This has become a necessity as the demand to use the equipment has increased every semester.  It is typical that there is waiting list for borrowed equipment.  There will be a fee of $10 per day for each day that the equipment is not returned.  Late notices will be sent via e-mail.  If the equipment is lost or not returned after three late notices, the renter will be charged a replacement fee. Replacement fees range from $75 - $3,000 depending on the equipment that was borrowed.

Our equipment is checked out on a regular basis by faculty, staff, and students; therefore, it is important that we maximize availability to everyone.  If you are planning an assignment that requires camcorders or other equipment that we provide, please let us know ahead of time so that we can plan and give priority to those students with a project due.
