Pioneers Lose 7-0 To Notre Dame (Ohio)

 
The Malone University men’s soccer team dropped a 7-0 American Mideast Conference match at home to NAIA No. 19 Notre Dame (OH) College on Saturday afternoon.  The visiting Falcons led 2-0 at intermission and then tacked on five more scores in the second half to cement the victory.  The Pioneers dropped to 2-8-1 overall and 1-5 in the AMC with the loss while Notre Dame kept its unblemished conference record intact, improving to 5-0 in the AMC and 10-1 overall.
 
The Falcons held a 9-1 advantage in total shots on goal in the match.  Malone keepers Derek Jeffrey (Fr., Norton H.S.) and Warden Neuenschwander (So., Linden, VA) combined to make two saves while Notre Dame keeper Alex Klein stopped the only shot he faced to notch his second shutout of the season.
 
This week, Malone (2-8-1 overall, 1-5 AMC) will host its final home match of the year as it faces local rival Walsh University (4-6-1 overall, 3-3 AMC) on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.  The squad will then travel to Point Park (PA) University (3-7-1 overall, 1-4-1 AMC) on Saturday for a 2:00 p.m. contest.
