Josh Settlemire Earns MSFA Mideast Offensive Player Of The Week Honors

Josh Settlemire, of Warren, Ohio (Howland H.S.), and a senior wide receiver on the Malone University football team, was recently named the Mid-States Football Association Mideast League Offensive Player of the Week after his notable performance in Saturday’s game at Fawcett Stadium in which Malone defeated Marian (IN) College by a final score of 45-37.
 
Settlemire pulled in 13 catches for 179 yards on Saturday and accounted for all three of the Pioneers’ second-half touchdowns.  His 13 total receptions tied the Malone record for catches in a game and he was just 20 yards shy of breaking his own Pioneer single-game record for receiving yards (Settlemire set the current Malone record for receiving yards with 198 against Urbana University in 2005).  In addition, Settlemire’s 179 receiving yards marked the third highest single-game total ever posted by a Pioneer.
 
Following the Homecoming win over Marian, Malone’s record improved to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the MSFA Mideast.  The Pioneers, ranked 25th in the most recent NAIA National Poll, will next travel to Taylor (IN) University this Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. contest with the Trojans.
