As Matt
Phelps and I continue to partner as co-directors of faculty development, we
have spent time considering the varied ways that we might more effectively
encourage faculty members in their professional development. As it relates to
instructional effectiveness in particular, we believe offering one-on-one
support might be helpful. This academic year I would like to make myself
available as an instructional mentor as part of my role in faculty development.
No
matter the number of years of experience, we can all benefit from the
opportunity to reflect on our teaching and the learning of our students.
Especially helpful it seems, is the opportunity from time to time to
process those reflections with a colleague.
I will
be available both fall and spring semesters to serve as an instructional mentor
to faculty who would like to have one-on-one conversations about teaching. In a
truly formative and informal fashion, I will be glad to meet with
individual faculty who wish to process their reflections on teaching and
learning.
Simply contact me by email plong@malone.edu or phone, ext. 8222, and I’ll
look forward to the opportunity to meet together.
Blessings-
Patty
