All chemistry majors take various chemistry courses, math courses, and physics courses. Then you select one of five tracks: Forensic Chemistry, Graduate School, Pre-Dentistry,  Pre-Medicine, or Pre-Veterinary Science.

All chemistry majors take the following core courses:

Forensic Chemistry Track

The Forensic Chemistry Track required courses include the 54-hour Chemistry core and the 10 additional hours listed below for a total of 64 credit hours. Students wishing to pursue the Forensic Chemistry track will need to receive a series of three Hepatitis B vaccinations prior to their internships at the Canton-Stark County Crime Lab. The immunization series is administered over a 6-month period, so students should visit the Health Center in their sophomore year.

The Graduate School Track required courses include the 54-hour Chemistry core and the 8 additional hours listed below for a total of 62 credit hours.

Pre-Dentistry Track

The Pre-Dentistry Track required courses include the 54-hour Chemistry core and the additional 19 hours listed below for a total of 73 credit hours.

Pre-Medicine Track

The Pre-Medicine Track required courses include the 54-hour Chemistry core and the 15 additional hours listed below for a total of 69 credit hours.

Pre-Pharmacy Track

The Pre-Pharmacy Track required courses include the 54-hour Chemistry core and the 26 additional hours listed below for a total of 80 credit hours.

Additional Information: Students wishing to teach chemistry in secondary schools should refer to Integrated Science Education, Life Science/Chemistry Education, or Physical Science Education majors.
