Pre-Professional Club

Malone University's Pre-Professional Club was established in 2011 to assist students who are planning to pursue further education at professional schools.

Semi-monthly meetings help students navigate through what can be a complicated application process, present updates in medical literature, and host guest speakers from various professional schools. 

Adviser is Nicholette Rogers, PA-C, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Biology.

We had a great meeting on Jan. 23 when four graduating seniors shared about their interview experiences at vet school, graduate school, clinical lab science programs, and optometry schools. Colleen Winney from the Career Development office at Malone also shared some really helpful information as students prepare for their careers. She shared about the valuable tools that Malone has available for assessing your strengths and weaknesses and how to choose a profession matched to these. She also shared about the LinkedIn network for students and professionals.

Our meeting on March 13 with Dr. Kim Carter (local vet and Malone alum) was a delight. Dr. Carter always has stories that encourage us to persevere when studies can seem overwhelming and we feel our dream of professional school may not become a reality.

We are currently working in unison with the ZOOM club on our fundraiser for this year: Finals Week care packages.  Letters have been sent out to parents.  We will assemble and deliver the care packages on Thursday April 25 between 2:30 and 5:30 p.m.  We will be working in MH 209.  Hope you have time to come help us with our only fundraiser this academic year.

Upcoming meetings:

Wednesday April 10 at 6:30 p.m. in Mitchell Hall room 209:  Ken Sigler (former Malone Resident Director) from The Ohio State University School of Dentistry will share with us about the application process and details of the dental school's program.  Refreshments will be served.

Friday April 12, 2013   End of year party at Dr. Rogers' home. Stay posted for times and  carpooling details.
