Malone University's Pre-Professional Club was established in 2011 to assist students who are planning to pursue further education at professional schools.
Semi-monthly meetings help students navigate through what can be a complicated application process, present updates in medical literature, and host guest speakers from various professional schools.
Adviser is Nicholette Rogers, PA, Ph.D.
We had a great time at the bonfire at Dr. Rogers' house on Oct. 4. We discussed possibly having a square dance in her barn in the Spring.
Our next meeting will be Tuesday, October 22 at 7 p.m. in Mitchell Hall 203. Dr. Stan Anderson from Jackson Family Practice will share with us about the "Etiquette of Shadowing." This is a highly recommended meeting. Dr. Anderson will share the "do's" and "don'ts" of when you are shadowing a medical doctor or other professional. (Please note the time change of this meeting.)
We have two other exciting upcoming meetings. Make sure you put these on your calendars.
On Thursday, October 31 at 6 p.m. in MH 203, nursing faculty member Christine Harrington will discuss the Affordable Care Act (many refer to this as Obamacare). Some of you may have heard her panel discussion last year....it was so informative. So come with your questions and learn about this complicated and controversial law. Please feel free to bring your friends.
On Thursday, November 7 at 6 p.m. in Mitchell Hall 203, Malone graduate and local veterinarian, Dr. Kim Carter will come to share about her journey as a student at OSU vet school, her current veterinary practice and her work with the Humane Society. You will leave this meeting smiling, since Dr. Carter has a wonderful sense of humor and we always enjoy her visits so much.
