Master of Arts in Education

Earn your master's in one of these concentration areas:

Classroom Based Counseling and Advocacy

Teachers will learn to enhance the problem-solving skills of their students and become more effective in dealing with diverse student needs. They also will become more knowledgeable about how behavioral, academic, emotional and cultural concerns impact the classroom.

Curriculum and Instruction

This program strengthens teachers' knowledge and skills in the areas of curriculum and instructional design. Program content includes curriculum development, instructional design, and contemporary issues. Elective hours allow the flexibility to develop and pursue a specific area of interest.

Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development

This program provides teachers with the knowledge and leadership skills to help other teachers transform their students' learning experiences and prepares teachers for the Administrative Specialist license. Program content includes educational leadership and organization, curriculum development and instructional design, and school law and ethics.

Intervention Specialist

This program equips teachers to effectively teach K-12 students with mild to moderate educational needs and prepares them for the Intervention Specialist license. Program content includes developmental characteristics, instructional interventions, classroom management, and special education law. Course work includes preparation for the Ohio reading endorsement.

Reading

This program allows teachers to deepen their understanding of literacy and the teaching of reading while preparing for the Ohio reading endorsement. Course work presents multiple methods of teaching reading including phonics, assessment and intervention of reading difficulties, creativity in reading instruction, and language development and differences.

Educational Leadership (Principal License)

This program prepares teachers to become leaders in curriculum, instruction, classroom management, and other critical areas in education and leads to the Principal license. Program content includes strategic planning and management, communication and collaboration skills, and data-driven decision making; advocacy and ethical leadership are emphasized.

School Counseling

This program, approved by the Ohio Board of Regents, prepares students to take the specialty examination to become a licensed, professional school counselor.
