Malone University was founded in 1892.

Experience and Compensation

Reporting to the Vice President for Advancement, the Associate Vice President for Development (AVPD) actively overseas the fund raising staff in initiating, developing, implementing and assessing various institutional fund raising programs in support of institutional goals and to ensure greater engagement of and increased philanthropy from the University’s varied constituents.

This includes The Malone Fund, the office of estate planning and design, intercollegiate athletic fund raising (Pioneer Athletic Clubs), Patrons for the Performing Arts and capital and restricted programs. The AVPD collaborates with the Development team to achieve cultivation and fund-raising objectives and represents and promotes the educational opportunities and outcomes provided by Malone University – the Malone experience - to prospective contributors.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must exhibit a personal understanding of, and operate in concert with the Mission statement and Foundational Principals of the University.  A bachelor’s degree is required, master’s degree preferred. Five years of fund raising experience and a working knowledge of fund raising principals (i.e. moves management) are essential; experience in fund raising in higher education is preferred. Substantial weight will be given to candidates with a proven track record of having successfully solicited and closed multiple substantial gifts for the benefit of prior organizations.

A proven ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing is essential.  Proven effective relational skills are also required. A demonstrated ability to collaborate with a wide range of people and a demonstrated ability to efficiently and effectively solve problems and complete projects independently is essential. Computer literacy (Microsoft Office) is required, a readiness to navigate the Development database (Raisers Edge) is essential. 

Proven time management skills, the ability to prioritize and record keeping abilities are essential. Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality of sensitive materials is essential. Current valid driver’s license and availability for frequent regional travel is required. Hours per week are anticipated to vary based on the needs and fluctuations of the fund raising and events cycle. Evening, weekend and overnight commitments will be necessary at times.

Compensation

Compensation will be based upon the individual's qualifications and educational background and how they relate to the requirements of the position.
