Malone College has officially become Malone  University!

 Canton, OH.   October 3, 2008

With a weekend of celebratory events to mark the historic occasion, Malone began the change from college to university with a Convocation Chapel  in the Johnson Center for Worship
and the Fine Arts, located at 2600 Cleveland Avenue N.W.

The service included dignitaries Congressman Ralph Regula; Betsy Boze, dean of Kent State University’s Stark Campus; Mayor William J. Healy II; and C. Todd Jones, president and general counsel, the Association
of Independent College and Universities of Ohio.  Alumni represented Malone’s antecedent institutional names – including Cleveland Bible Institute and Cleveland Bible College – delivered greetings.

Pre-recorded greetings were delivered from alumni now living and
serving across six continents.  The institution’s Department of Fine Arts, represented by the Chorale, Women’s Concert Choir, and Symphonic Band performed an encore presentation of Arise, My Soul, Arise, an arrangement of hymns commissioned by the university, arranged and composed by Jesse Ayers, Ph.D., professor of music, for the
inauguration of President Gary Streit last October.  An unveiling of the Malone University Seal concluded the ceremony.  A brief ribbon cutting ceremony immediately followed, dedicating the campus’s new
University Drive.  A special commemorative gift was presented to all attendees.

Malone University, a Christian university for the arts, sciences, and professions in the liberal arts tradition, affiliated with the Evangelical Friends Church, awards both undergraduate and graduate degrees in more than 100 academic programs.  Malone is recognized by the prestigious Templeton Foundation as a leader in character development and is ranked among the top colleges and universities in the Midwest under the category Universities
