LINUX Priorities Lab NOTICE: See the online version of the lab for a critical note on running the "usecpu" program!!

Class:

Meet in Lab to work on LINUX priorities, Windows Scheduling, and Java Locks labs.
Discuss Lab using locks in Java. This lab does not require a lot of code, but does require extensive analysis! Don't put off starting it - you might need time to ask questions! It can be done in Windows using these instructions.
Show how to pass the same object to multiple instances of Threaded classes.

Windows scheduling Lab NOTE: This lab has many questions about the apparent priority of the in-focus window. The current SP level of Windows XP seems to handle in-focus quite differently from prior levels in that the in-focus window does not seem to show a marked difference from other windows. See what your experiments show.

Introduce Lab using Semaphores. This lab has no original code. There is a change for you to make and test. The lab work is careful observation of system behavior and analysis of that behavior. It can be done in Windows using these instructions.

Meet in lab to do zOS Introductory Lab. This is an ungraded lab. The instructor will guide the entire class together through part of the lab.
NOTICE! You meed to complete this lab because it sets up facilities on your userid which are needed for future labs. You cannot start on the next zOS lab until the instructor notifies you because after you complete this lab, the instructor needs to "seed" your data set with some members.
You need to be in lab this day, not do this lab on your own time!!
