Student Circulation Policy
Current Malone students may use their Malone identification, issued by Student Development. A Malone ID is necessary to check out items from Malone or any other OhioLINK institution. Most students will be automatically entered into the library computer system each semester through a general patron load. Anyone who registers after the patron load can be entered by showing his or her ID and completing a form at the library circulation desk. Once entered into the library system, the student can borrow materials from our collection and can order materials through OhioLINK, OPAL and interlibrary loan. The barcode from the university ID is also necessary to access the library's computer databases from off campus. The magnetic strip on the card is needed to enter the library after 10 p.m. weeknights and all day Sundays. The card is valid as long as the person is a student at Malone University.
Malone Alumni can obtain community patron cards free of charge after graduation. Patron cards have more limited access and privileges, but still permit Malone and OhioLINK borrowing.

General borrowing privileges
Malone students can check out most regularly circulating Malone items for three months or until the end of the current the term (whichever comes first), although certain special collections and reserve materials have shorter loan periods. All Malone library patrons can borrow circulating materials from any OhioLINK or SearchOhio library with a current Malone library card. Items can be ordered from other institutions through the OhioLINK catalog or by visiting any OhioLINK institution. OhioLINK items can also be sent to any other OhioLINK library for pick up. Students will be notified through their Malone email address when items are checked in at the pickup location. Several other courtesy reminders are also sent via email: a notice shortly before items are due, overdue notices, and a final replacement notice. It is the borrower’s responsibility to ascertain due dates regardless of email receipt. Patrons can also monitor their own borrowing records by going to either Malone Library web page or the OPAL catalog and clicking “My Account.” Malone undergraduate students have a limit of 50 items out at once, and graduate students can have up to 100 items. All students are restricted to 10 OhioLINK holds at a time.
Media Services equipment
Media Services equipment must be checked out from and returned to the Media Services office in the basement of the library. Although Media Services fines can be paid at the library circulation desk, any questions concerning fines or available equipment should be directed to the Media Services staff.
Computer use: Students must log on to library computers. Accessing or viewing pornography, gambling, or participation in online occult practices is not permitted. Wi-Fi is available inside the library.
